Switzerland 1988: A trip over the Brünig pass

Deutsche Version dieses Postings

The following pictures were taken on a trip from St.Blaise to Thun, then over the Brünig line and on to Bern. There are no interlockings (well, a points lever in the wild) to be seen and only one signal.

Te 17, somewhere, 17.8.1988

A relaxed traffic director is leaning against a switch cabinet for "right away" signals. A day later, I visited this formidable signal box, which is now preserved as a museum:

The BLS (Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon railway) had their 75 year anniversary and ran some old and perfectly restored locomotives:

BLS Be8/8 271 with sticker "75 Jahre BLS" ("75 years BLS"), probably near Spiez, 17.8.1988

BLS Ce4/6 307, probably at Spiez, 17.8.1988

Station building, Därligen, 17.8.1988

The SBB used brooms as "warning signs" before work sites—at one place, they almost swept the glasses out of my face:

Another elegantly restored BLS locomotive:

The following signal convinced me to return to that station the following day:
