The following pictures are more on the mediocre side, but they show different types of Austrian semaphores in 1990, on a trip from Vienna to Drosendorf in the Weinviertel:
Starting signal R2-3, Guntersdorf, 14.8.1990
Home signals A and B, Zellerndorf, 14.8.1990
Signal box 1, Zellerndorf, 14.8.1990
Signal box 1, starting signals, Zellerndorf, 14.8.1990
Starting signal R4, Zellerndorf, 14.8.1990
Signal box 1, Retz, 14.8.1990
Distant signal b, Langau, 14.8.1990
From the train, I took pictures of the interlocking frame at Langau, a German Einheit. Why the German Reichsbahn, in those dark years, actually invested money into new frames on such remote lines, I do not really understand:

A long mail car, a baggage car and two coaches are hauled by the class 2143 to Drosendorf:

At Drosendorf, the mail car was switched to the loading home track. from where it would be collected by some train in the late afternoon:

The locomotive was coupled to the other side (the points in the foreground point towards the mail car's loading track):

This picture of the whole ensemble is, unfortunately, mightily dark:

Here is Langau again, somewhat more friendly:

Here are two dutiful photos of the reflective semaphores of Retz:
Distant signal y, Retz, 14.8.1990
Home signal Y, Retz, 14.8.1990
And I took a photo of a CSD and an ÖBB railcar each:
CSD 830 045, Retz, 14.8.1990
5045.004, Retz, 14.8.1990
The next posting will then show the interior of Retz's signal box 1, with one of the last fully equipped mechanical frames
